Okay, so maybe “hanging out” might be a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe it was more like chasing him around as we attempted to photograph two different “meet & greet” events of about 100 people. Still, Pacino was an extremely friendly and easy-going guy, who didn’t seem to mind being pulled in various directions and having strangers scramble for pictures. I’ll admit to being one of the eager masses that couldn’t resist the urge to get a picture with him.

So, I’ve seen a large number of news postings about Avril Lavigne’s “profanity-laced rant” during her appearance at the Rays Summer Concert Series on Saturday night. According to numerous reports, Avril “unleashed a downpour of obscenities” or “let a few profanities fly.”  Just to set the record straight, that’s not exactly what happened.

I was standing in the photo pit, directly in front of the stage and not six feet from Avril during the first part of her show. After struggling through two songs with multiple dead microphones, Lavigne was escorted off stage by her crew. With a new, working microphone in hand, Avril did drop the F-bomb once, or maybe twice, while expressing her feelings about the situation. It was not directed at the crowd, only a little bit of ill-placed stress relief. It definitely wasn’t a “profanity-laced rant.”

Maybe I’ve covered too many metal shows where most of the evening is dominated by profanity, because I didn’t really think that it was that bad. I agree that it might have been better for Avril to find a few less-offensive words, but I’m sure that it was just stress and frustration.

She may not have any U.S. dates currently on her tour schedule, but pop-punk rocker Avril Lavigne managed to slip into the states for a single show. On Saturday night Lavigne performed as part of the Rays Summer Concert Schedule, a post-game concert series hosted by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ok, so its not a music event or concert, but its freaking Al Pacino. Scarface himself comes to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Tuesday, May 31st, and will offer a unique evening of entertainment.

According to the venue website
“The evening will include a creative process interview where Mr. Pacino will share his passion for acting and directing with film clips, including some never before seen footage, and portray some of his most memorable characters onstage. A large screen projection will enhance the experience making every seat in theatre a great seat. Sharing backstage tales from a lifetime in the world of theatre and film, Mr. Pacino will reveal the inner workings of his most personal work and will include a question and answer session from the audience.”

Check back on 6/1 for some shots from the evening. As of this post, some tickets were still available, but going fast.
